My graduate thesis project, subVert: LA was developed in Frogtown, along the concrete banks of the LA River. Derelict shopping carts were salvaged from the riverbed and repurposed into FROGS; freecycled resident operated garden systems. These mobile garden carts were made from found and recycled materials, filled with free mulch from the nearby city mulch pile and then planted with pollinators, herbs and vegetables. Upon release, the carts went back into the community to be sponsored and tended by Elysian Valley residents.
